Program Description

The Internship program allows master’s level clinicians earn their clinical hours towards licensure as per requirements of Florida Department of Health.

 

The intern has the opportunity to provide clinical services in the form of individual, family, couple, and group therapy as well as brief assessments such as clinical interviews and mental status examination.  The intern also develops proficiency in documentation to include progress notes and treatment plans.

 

All clinicians receive supervision as required by Florida Department of Health.

 

All clinicians receive payments for services rendered.

 

Qualifications:

Interns must have a terminal Master’s degree in

  • Clinical Psychology
  • Mental Health Counseling
  • Counseling Psychology
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Clinical Social Work (must have additional external supervision)

Interns must meet all requirements of the Florida Department of Health and register as an intern.

 

Intern Commitment:

An average of 20 hours of direct service to include clinical supervision (20%), direct clinical service (50%), documentation (20%), training and research (10%).

 

Requirement:

20 to 40 hours per week depending if full-time or part-time.

 

This includes direct clinical service hours (60%), clinical supervision(15%), documentation (20%), training and research (5%).

 

Must have met institutions’ requirements for external practicum accordingly.
